Everyone is rehashing last year. Like 2020 is a year I want to keep in my memory bank. The funny thing to me is that everything that was going on with Covid19 was pushed in our faces every morning and evening on the news. You could not escape hearing about it! So why is there such a big need to go over it all, like we had forgotten about it? In my mind there is no reason to look back. Let’s look forward and increase our steps forward so we can move onward and upward. Especially when it comes to the Travel Industry. Let’s do what we can to make the changes possible so we can get back to doing what we love doing. Helping people plan and have amazing vacation experiences! And traveling ourselves! I will answer the question “What’s New?” below. Enjoy the ride!
The first thing we started doing to ward off the blues of all of our vacations getting cancelled was to starting finishing certifications we had started and never finished because we were too busy. Since we weren’t as busy as we wanted to be after working with our supplier partners to take care of everyone’s rebooking and rescheduling, studying seemed like a logical way to fill our time. You can never know ‘too’ much, right? And often times you find that studying makes you remember ‘stuff’ you learned a while back, but had forgotten. So really, you get ‘extra’ benefits. That is okay, too, because hey, none of us are getting any younger…
Then came the wave of Virtual Conferences. After realizing that no one could travel ‘to’ a conference, suppliers, coaches and trainers figured out a way to bring the information ‘to’ us. Admittedly, some – especially in the beginning – were a little rough around the edges. After all, technology had a HUGE bump in the road to go over and almost overnight, so yeah, it was a rough start. But perseverance paid off and WOW! The conferences got better and better and low and behold, our brains exploded with copious amounts of knowledge! It became kind of cool. I can have business on top and party on the bottom, and as long as I stay seated no one will every know. Sweet!
By now, we are entering Fall. Pages of notes about Covid travel policies have been written, scratched out, torn up and re-written. Several times over. Things were changing so fast. As Travel Advisor’s we want – no need – to be prepared when the travel door opens so our clients will have the most pertinent information available. The best part is that some of our suppliers have created the most amazing data bases that cover just about every destination on earth you could possibly want to travel to. Right at our fingertips! Kudos to them and THANK YOU!!!! God love you for managing to keep on top of things so that we will all look like Rock Stars to our clients when the time comes. We salute you!!
YouTube Supplier Zoom Chats
Last Fall we also started adding to our YouTube Channel. We started with videos to inspire and engage all of you, so you could keep your dreams of traveling again alive. Then we invited some of our amazing Virtuoso Supplier Partners to join us via Zoom to have what I called Fireside Chats. I wanted you to see what we see and learn from our Partners when we attend webinars. AmaWaterways and The Velvet Collection have been very gracious and have done full series about all their wonderful travel products.
