Silver Origin to the Galapagos

Launched in 2020 and sailing soon, Silversea’s Silver Origin will be the most elegant ship ever to sail the Galapagos Islands. With only a 100 passenger Guest capacity, she will offer the highest Zodiac-to-guest ratio in the region. She carries 8 Zodiacs, 10 guest-use kayaks and a team of 10 Ecuadorian expedition experts. Silver Origin incorporates state-of-the-art technology and special destination-inspired components to enhance everyday life onboard and maneuvering.

She is fitted with a ‘dynamic positioning system’ which enables her to hover in place, rather than anchoring. Every suite onboard comes with a freshwater purification system and sustainable reusable water bottles for guests. She meets the highest standard of energy efficiency  with 25% reduction in hull resistance, 15% reduction in fuel consumption and equivalently fewer exhaust emissions. She is also equipped with a Wastewater Treatment System to ensure efficient and clean water usage.

Basecamp is an elegant lounge where guests can meet for Zodiac excursions as well as an information and educational center where guests can prepare for the next adventure. One of the highlights of Basecamp is a large digital wall where guests can access destination-related content. The space has artefacts from Darwin’s expeditions and those of other explorers. The Marina is a wide open level platform at the aft of the ship, right off Basecamp. It is at the Marina that guests will board Silver Origin and begin their cruise with a walk through Basecamp, as well as embark on daily excursions.

The Explorer Lounge doubles as a space where guests can meet for briefings with their Expedition Team by day, and a relaxing lounge bar (complete with a pianist) by night. Floor to ceiling glass windows provide guests with an enchanting view of the passing seascapes and allow guests to spot endemic wildlife. The space also features a large video wall, as well as multiple large HD TV screens where guests can listen to the daily briefing or watch a lecture.

The Grill is the ideal open-air restaurant and bar, where guests can enjoy lunch before jumping into the next adventure ashore. At night, The Grill offers Silversea’s signature Hot Rocks concept, in which guests are able to cook their own fresh fish, seafood and meat on hot lava stones with an Ecuadorian twist. The Grill is also equipped with an advanced sheltering system which can enclose the restaurant and shelter the guests from wind or dropping temperatures. No reservations required, no cover charge, open seating and Al-fresco lunch and dinner served.

Silver Origin will alternate two seven-night Galapagos itineraries:
  Baltra to San Cristobal and San Cristobal to Baltra
